Abstract
This chapter zooms in on the various, intersectional levels of privilege as they arise during field research processes. Primarily referring to the author’s experiences in conducting research in Bosnia-Herzegovina and South Africa, it suggests that manifestations of privilege are relational and situational, whilst relating to questions of access. The chapter then points to feelings of guilt that may emerge in the process of conducting fieldwork. It concludes by reflecting on the ways in which researchers can deal with intersectional positions of privilege and disadvantage through the formation of chains of solidarity as well as advocating for just procedures and representations throughout the research process.
