AO modal optimization in a live, beating zebrafish heart (2013)
Conference Proceeding
Bourgenot, C., Taylor, J. M., Saunter, C. D., Girkin, J. M., & Love, G. D. (2013). AO modal optimization in a live, beating zebrafish heart. . https://doi.org/10.1364/aopt.2013.ow4a.4

We report on the combinated use of heart synchronization and wavefront sensorless modal AO to enable significant improvement in image quality of a live transgenic zebrafish embryo heart, imaged with a light sheet microscope.

Model selection for the Dubuc-Deslauriers family of subdivision schemes (2013)
Conference Proceeding
Mustafa, G., & Ivrissimtzis, I. (2013). Model selection for the Dubuc-Deslauriers family of subdivision schemes. In R. J. Cripps, G. Mullineux, & M. A. Sabin (Eds.), Mathematics of surfaces - XIV. The proceedings of a conference on the Mathematics of Surfaces, organised by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications held at the University of Birmingham in September 2013 (155-162)

We propose two methods for model selection for the DubucDeslauriers family of subdivision schemes. In particular, we study model selection under the statistical method of cross-validation and the geometric method of minimizing the absolute discrete t... An optical platform for the production, trapping, manipulation and visualization of ultra-low interfacial tension emulsion droplets (2013)
Conference Proceeding
Hargreaves, A. L., Kirby, A. K., Bain, C. D., Love, G. D., Bolognesi, G., Ces, O., …Ward, A. D. (2013). An optical platform for the production, trapping, manipulation and visualization of ultra-low interfacial tension emulsion droplets. In K. Dholakia, & G. C. Spalding (Eds.), . https://doi.org/10.1117/12.2027105

We discuss the design, implementation and performance of a novel platform for the production and optical control of ultra-low interfacial tension droplets in the 1-10 micron regime. A custom-designed, integrated microfluidic system allows the product... Light sheet adaptive optics microscope for 3D live imaging (2013)
Conference Proceeding
Bourgenot, C., Taylor, J., Saunter, C., Girkin, J., & Love, G. (2013). Light sheet adaptive optics microscope for 3D live imaging. In C. J. Cogswell (Ed.), . https://doi.org/10.1117/12.2002057

We report on the incorporation of adaptive optics (AO) into the imaging arm of a selective plane illumination microscope (SPIM). SPIM has recently emerged as an important tool for life science research due to its ability to deliver high-speed, optica... Predicting Performance in an Introductory Programming Course by Logging and Analyzing Student Programming Behavior (2013)
Conference Proceeding
Watson, C., Li, F. W., & Godwin, J. L. (2013). Predicting Performance in an Introductory Programming Course by Logging and Analyzing Student Programming Behavior. In Proceedings of the 2013 IEEE 13th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT 2013) (319-323). https://doi.org/10.1109/icalt.2013.99

The high failure rates of many programming courses means there is a need to identify struggling students as early as possible. Prior research has focused upon using a set of tests to assess the use of a student's demographic, psychological and cognit...
