Professor Ashraf Khir
Research Interests | I work broadly in the fields of cardiovascular mechanics, with particular interest in the physiological fluid mechanics and ventricular assist devices (VADs). My academic research is linked to two clinical pathologies: hypertension and heart failure and have special interest in the following topics: Arterial wall mechanics Wave intensity analysis Air flow in lungs Noninvasive determination of hemodynamic parameters In vitro testing and mock circulatory loops Characterisation of wave reflections Estimation of arterial wave speed Rotary and pulsatile blood pumps Intra Aortic balloon pump (IABP) Arterial wave propagation |
