Biography Pippa Petts is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Durham University. She founded and leads the Physics Education and Scholarship (PhES) section, advancing educational research and innovation in STEM teaching and learning.

Her research focuses on immersive learning technologies (Augmented and Virtual Reality), inclusive pedagogies, and laboratory teaching innovation. Her recent work, “Using Immersive Technologies to Support Conceptual Understanding in University-Level Physics Teaching”, is in press for publication in a Springer volume (expected August 2025), arising from peer-reviewed international conference selection. Her innovations have also been selected for development as a REF2029 Impact Case Study.

Pippa holds Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), is a Chartered Physicist (CPhys), and maintains strong collaborations with both higher education and industry sectors to advance inclusive, research-led education. She contributes to sector development through roles such as membership of the 2024 QAA Benchmark Panel for Physics.
