Rhys Sutton-Harry

Biography I am a late medievalist, specialising in the cultural and social history of late medieval England. My past experience has focused on religious and monastic history, visual culture and wider cultural themes.

I have started my PhD research 2023 however I arrived in Durham in 2020-21 to complete my MA in Medieval and Early Modern Studies, prior to which I was at the University of Hull for my BA (Hons) in History and Archaeology.

My research will focus on the different practices surrounding time and timekeeping that were held in late medieval England, specifically during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Situated within the developing field of the cultural history of time and temporality, I shall build upon existing works incorporating more traditional approaches alongside more recent methodologies to research an area that has been under-explored in recent scholarship.
