A ratiometric and non-enzymatic luminescence assay for uric acid: differential quenching of lanthanide excited states by anti-oxidants. (2006)
Journal Article
Poole, R., Kielar, F., Richardson, S., Stenson, P., & Parker, D. (2006). A ratiometric and non-enzymatic luminescence assay for uric acid: differential quenching of lanthanide excited states by anti-oxidants. Chemical Communications, 4084-4086. https://doi.org/10.1039/b611259e

The excited states of Tb and Eu complexes of a common macrocyclic ligand are quenched preferentially by electron transfer from the urate anion, allowing the creation of a new assay to measure uric acid in biological fluids.

On the role of the counter-ion in defining water structure and dynamics : order, sructure and dynamics in hydrophilic and hydrophobic gadolinium salt complexes (2006)
Journal Article
Thompson, A., Parker, D., Fulton, D., Howard, J., Pandya, S., Puschmann, H., …Aime, S. (2006). On the role of the counter-ion in defining water structure and dynamics : order, sructure and dynamics in hydrophilic and hydrophobic gadolinium salt complexes. Dalton Transactions, 5605-5616. https://doi.org/10.1039/b606206g

The crystal structures of the hydrated salts of [Gd.DOTAM]3+ and its more hydrophobic derivative [Gd.2]3+, bearing 4 -phenylethyl groups, (both Gd and Yb salts) are reported and compared. The nature of the anion determines the degree of ordering in t... Azaxanthones and azathioxanthones are effective sensitisers for europium and terbium luminescence (2006)
Journal Article
Atkinson, P., Findlay, K., Kielar, F., Pal, D., Parker, D., Poole, R., …Yu, J. (2006). Azaxanthones and azathioxanthones are effective sensitisers for europium and terbium luminescence. Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry, 4(9), 1707-1722. https://doi.org/10.1039/b601357k

Several azaxanthone and azathioxanthone sensitising chromophores have been incorporated into macrocyclic ligands and form well-defined Eu and Tb complexes in polar media. Excitation of the heterocyclic chromophore in the range 330 to 382 nm leads to... Read More about Azaxanthones and azathioxanthones are effective sensitisers for europium and terbium luminescence.
