Abstract

The paper presents a novel application of ultra-wide band terahertz (THz) array as a heat blocking structure. Standard antenna theory has been implemented in the design to achieve operating band width of more than 100 THz within infrared spectrum. The array has significant gain and an acceptable radiation pattern across its operating bandwidth with 50 Ω termination, which makes it versatile for other applications. Readily available low-cost materials are used to make the design cost effective. The design is simulated in HFSS 13 and fabricated using photolithography techniques. The measured heat blocking efficiency of the structure is 21.56%.
