Abstract

This chapter serves as an introduction to the collection and, in so doing, sets the scene and lays the groundwork for the fascinating and diverse chapters that comprise the book. It seeks to frame the collection by elucidating its ambition, scope and content. This introduction therefore begins by musing on the nature and meaning of property before moving to explain the structure of the book and to offer short outlines of each chapter contained within it. In this way, the chapter attempts to whet the appetite of readers and to encourage enthusiasm for what follows.
