Abstract
Keith Manchester was born in Leicestershire, England, on the 21 June 1938. Attending King Edward VII Grammar School in Melton Mowbray from 1946 to 1956, he gained his “A” levels which allowed him entry to study medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in London (1956–1962). He was awarded a B.Sc. Honors in Physiology (1959) and an M.B.B.S (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) in 1962. In 1963 he started work as a house surgeon in gynecology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and had later house jobs at the Whittington Hospital, London, and St Luke’s Hospital in Bradford, West Yorkshire. These posts preceded his establishment as a General Practitioner at Laisterdyke Clinic in 1964, until his retirement in 1998. However, he remains a Locum General Medical Practitioner in Bradford, and has recently “re-joined” the palaeopathology community of Bradford University’s Department of Archaeological Sciences.
