LANGMUIR-BLODGETT-FILMS OF POLYANILINE

Abstract
Thin layers of polyaniline have been successfully deposited by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique onto a variety of substrates. The in-plane dc conductivity of the as-deposited material was found to be 10(-8) Scm-1; this increased to a maximum value of 0.1 Scm-1 after doping with HCl vapour. For the doped layers, a significant anisotropy of the conductivity was noted in the film plane. The thin films have been characterised using UV/visible spectroscopy.
