Abstract

Third Generation CAE Systems: «Electrical Engineering Solutions» State of the Art Overview The domain of Electrical Engineering CAD is currently subject to rapid change. Computer aided design tools developed in the eighties and early nineties do not meet future requirements any longer. Hence, an absolutely novel ECAD generation called „Electrical Engineering Solutions“ is beeing developed since the late nineties. Hereby, up-to-date software engineering tools and approaches are deployed. Fundamental requirements to this generation are: support of concurrent engineering, set up of standardized system architectures, efficient support of variational design, more efficient system operability, adaptive and intelligent user interfaces, an increased degree of modularization and standardization, as well as national and international data exchange standards. Today, it is to find out what really could been realized in respect to the defined requirements. This paper gives an overview of the current state of science and technology in the area of ECAD/ECAE systems development.
