Abstract

Reviews the approach of the European Court of Justice to UK challenges to EU measures that threaten the City of London's interests as a global financial centre, including the court's findings in United Kingdom v European Parliament (C-270/12) on whether Regulation 236/2012 art.28 was contrary to its judgment in Meroni & Co Industrie Metallurgiche SpA v High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (9/56), and whether the delegation of powers to the European Securities and Markets Authority was incompatible with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union arts 290 and 291.
