Biography I am an applied statistician with a broad range of experience in using statistics to solve real-world problems. I've enjoyed working in industry, academia, and the civil service, applying my expertise to diverse challenges.

My current research focuses on the fascinating relationship between humans and numbers. This project investigates how people interact with statistical information, which has significant implications for both industry and government agencies. For example, understanding public trust in experts and how data is interpreted in the media is crucial for effective communication and informed decision-making.

Previously, I worked at JBA Risk Management Ltd., where I developed novel statistical methods for modelling large-scale flood events. I returned to academia in 2022 as I'm passionate about teaching and have experience developing courses in statistics and machine learning, using technology like Shiny and GitHub Codespaces to enhance the learning experience.
