Project Title The potential of Pseudomonas bacteria as biocontrol agents against multiple plant pathogens.
Project Description I was supervised by Dr Ville-Petri Friman (University of York), Co-supervisor: Professor Peter Urwin (University of Leeds). This project investigated the biocontrol effects of plant growth promoting Pseudomonas strains against two groups of plant pathogens (bacteria and nematodes). It focussed on optimizing current methodology in the field and innovating new techniques with an evolutionary perspective. Skills involved: experimental design, bacterial culturing and aseptic techniques, organising short- and long-term selection experiments, conducting short- and long-term in vivo glasshouse trials, LCMS, statistical programming using R and communicating findings to national and international audiences.
