Dr Kieran Lawrence
Biography | After completing my BSc in Biological Sciences at Durham University in 2018, I stayed on to study my doctorate. I was awarded my PhD for a thesis entitled "The impacts of climate change on long-distance migratory birds". I started as a part-time teaching fellow in the final year of my doctoral studies, before taking on the role full-time upon the award of my degree. I teach on a variety of modules in the Biosciences department, from Level 1 to postgraduate study - these are centred around ecology, conservation and computational biology. |

Research Interests | I am a macroecologist, computational biologist and conservation biologist. My main research focus is on the impacts of environmental change on biodiversity. I am particularly interested in migratory species, and changes in their migratory journeys and populations as the climate changes and habitats are transformed by humans. One branch of my research focuses on the drivers of migration and the reasons for the existence of different migratory strategies and routes. |
