Angela Gill
Biography | Angela Gill is an Associate Professor at Durham University. She is the Director of ITT Programmes, leading both UG and PGCE programmes in the School of Education. She is the Subject Lead for Primary English and her areas of interest include phonics, early reading and writing. She is currently researching how play-based approaches can support the writing process in the primary school. She has written and edited books and articles about many aspects of Primary English and the wider curriculum, and her recent publications include the fourth edition of Teaching Systematic Synthetic Phonics in the Primary School and the second edition of Mastering Writing at Greater Depth. She has presented at national conferences in the UK and has organised conferences for trainees related to key aspects of the curriculum, such as phonics and employability. For more than 20 years, Angela taught in primary schools in Durham and Somerset, during which time she was Subject Lead for English and phonics. |
