Abstract

The author examines the Swedish company, Aditro Logistics, and its introduction of a digital gamification platform to compliment Human Resources Management (HRM) practices. Aditro’s experimentation with gamification and HRM practices allows analysis of the emergence of management practices that facilitate the digital transformation of certain firm functions. The author highlights the importance of clearly defined objectives, rules and techniques and the flexibility provided by digital gamification, and the management innovations needed for it to be successful. Through three vignettes on the introduction of a digital gamification platform, the chapter shows the selling, championing, validation and experimentation practices that managers pursued to introduce digital gamification into the firm.
