This paper presents results of wideband measurements conducted in the two 60 MHz frequency division duplex (FDD) bands allocated for future Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS). The measurements were carried out in the dense urban environment of Manchester city centre using either a trolley or a van covering ranges up to 1.6 km or 5 km, respectively. Omni-directional antennas were used for both transmission and reception. The data were used to study the channel parameters for 60 MHz and 5 MHz bandwidths.
