Abstract
Short rotor linear induction motors are a type of linear motors in which the stator is the fixed part and the rotor is the moving part. Because of their weight and being free from electrical source, these linear motors are optimal to be used in high speed ground transportation and in specific industrial applications. In this paper, a mathematical model for single side short rotor linear induction motors is proposed. To study the performance of these linear motors in high speed purposes, MatLab/Simulink‐based simulations were carried out, and then, the experimental results were compared to the simulation results.
