Content Policy

Durham Research Online (DRO) contains records for research outputs produced by research staff and research staff affiliated with Durham University. Records contain metadata (in English) and files (multilingual). The primary purpose of DRO is to provide open access to publications authored by staff and students whilst they are at Durham University.

Submission Policy

Deposit of new content to Durham Research Online (DRO) is through the Worktribe current research information system. This is possible only for staff and research students affiliated with Durham University. Please direct any queries to dro.admin@durham.ac.uk. A full description of the repository's submission procedure is available at https://libguides.durham.ac.uk/open_research/durhamresearchonline.

Metadata Policy

Durham Research Online (DRO) aims to ensure that research outputs are described accurately and in a timely fashion as bibliographic metadata becomes available. Please report any errors in the metadata to a member of the DRO team at dro.admin@durham.ac.uk. Metadata describing research outputs is made openly available under a Creative Commons Zero licence (https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/).

Preservation Policy

Once added to Durham Research Online (DRO) a record describing an output will not normally be withdrawn from public access except in exceptional circumstances. In the very rare instance where a record is withdrawn from public view, this will not be deleted and identifiers/URLs will be retained by default.

A file attached to an output record may only be removed from public access where we are notified of a legitimate reason for doing (examples may include a confirmed violation of copyright or plagiarism). Deposited files, once made publicly accessible, can not otherwise be changed, but an updated version may be deposited.

Please contact us at dro.admin@durham.ac.uk if you have any concerns about an output availabel from DRO.
