Biography Dr Maresa Reill joined Durham University in 2023. Previously she completed her PhD in Accounting at the University of Bristol. Her research interest focuses on environmental and social accounting and accountability. She specialises in accountability within biodiversity contexts. By exploring how accountability dynamics interact with socioeconomic contexts and relationships, she aims to understand how people and processes shape practice and policy for forward-looking strategies benefiting society and the environment.

Maresa presented her research at various national and international conferences, such as those organised by the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR), the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), or Critical Perspectives on Accounting (CPA).

She was awarded Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in October 2021. Maresa currently teaches financial accounting and research methods as part of the undergraduate Accounting programmes.
