Professor
This podcast (in Spanish) explores the filmography of one of Spain's most important filmmakers, the late Bigas Luna (1946-2013). The podcast is connected to two book-length publications by the Durham University based producer, Prof Santiago Fouz Hernández: the edited collection of the same title (published in Tirant lo Blanch in 2020) and the monograph (in progress) The Films of Bigas Luna (under contract with Manchester UP).
The first season (20 episodes published in 2020) is based on the presentation of the book of the same time, with short chapter pitches in the voice of their authors, as well as bonus episodes connected to The BIGAS LUNA TRIBUTE (a touring retrospective, also co-organised by Fouz-Hernández in collaboration with Betty Bigas, art curator and daughter of the filmmaker).
The second season (20 episodes published between 2021 and 2023) consists of interviews with members of the film industry that worked in some Bigas Luna films and academics who have written books about them.
The third season (also planned for 20 episodes between 2023 and 2025) consists of special episodes devoted to each of Bigas Luna's 18 films (and 2 bonus episodes about his art). Each episode includes a summary of the critical and academic reception of the film followed by a roundtable discussion with collaborators that participated in the relevant film and academics with expertise on a specific aspect connected to it (for example literature, fashion, mythology, genre, feminist theory, etc).
