Abstract
In 1968 Michel Foucault designed a multitude of textile metaphors to announce the end of representation in the sense of a tearing veil. The texts in this volume address the different dimensions of the image crack by dealing with the problem of the disintegration and dissolution of thought and image structures in terms of cultural theory, art and image science, as well as with regard to the historical context of the images.
