Abstract
Drawing on Marc Augé’s concept of the non-lieu to discuss the work of Jean Rolin, this article argues that Rolin’s work maps the complicated and porous frontiers between place and non-place in contemporary France by contextualizing them in terms of the economic planning and modernization that began to shape its landscape through late capitalist development in the 1960s and ’70s.
