Abstract

This article considers the nature of user involvement (mandated by the Norwegian Health Laws 2001, as amended), presenting the results of an empirical study whereby the Consumer Participation Questionnaire was modified for use by Norwegian CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health service) staff and applied in a cross-sectional investigation of 24 randomly selected CAMHS institutes from two Norwegian health care regions. The article considers the impact of staff attitudes towards user involvement and the problems that arise due to the duality of users (the minor patient and his/her carer).
