Inflation in AdS/CFT (2006)
Journal Article
Freivogel, B., Hubeny, V. E., Maloney, A., Myers, R. C., Rangamani, M., & Shenker, S. (2006). Inflation in AdS/CFT. Journal of High Energy Physics, 2006(03), https://doi.org/10.1088/1126-6708/2006/03/007

We study the AdS/CFT correspondence as a probe of inflation. We assume the existence of a string landscape containing at least one stable AdS vacuum and a (nearby) metastable de Sitter state. Standard arguments imply that the bulk physics in the vici... Read More about Inflation in AdS/CFT.

Causally pathological space-times are physically relevant (2005)
Journal Article
Hubeny, V. E., Rangamani, M., & Ross, S. F. (2005). Causally pathological space-times are physically relevant. International Journal of Modern Physics D, 14(12), 2227-2232. https://doi.org/10.1142/s0218271805007760

We argue that in the context of string theory, the usual restriction to globally hyperbolic space–times should be considerably relaxed. We exhibit an example of a space–time which only satisfies the causal condition, and so is arbitrarily close to ad... Read More about Causally pathological space-times are physically relevant.

Causal structures and holography (2005)
Journal Article
Hubeny, V. E., Rangamani, M., & Ross, S. F. (2005). Causal structures and holography. Journal of High Energy Physics, 2005(07), Article 037. https://doi.org/10.1088/1126-6708/2005/07/037

We explore the description of bulk causal structure in a dual field theory. We observe that in the spacetime dual to a spacelike non-commutative field theory, the causal structure in the boundary directions is modified asymptotically. We propose that... String-corrected black holes (2005)
Journal Article
Hubeny, V., Maloney, A., & Rangamani, M. (2005). String-corrected black holes. Journal of High Energy Physics, 2005(05), https://doi.org/10.1088/1126-6708/2005/05/035

We investigate the geometry of four dimensional black hole solutions in the presence of stringy higher curvature corrections to the low energy effective action. For certain supersymmetric two charge black holes these corrections drastically alter the... Read More about String-corrected black holes.

Comments on cosmic censorship in AdS/CFT (2004)
Journal Article
Hubeny, V. E., Liu, X., Rangamani, M., & Shenker, S. (2004). Comments on cosmic censorship in AdS/CFT. Journal of High Energy Physics, 2004(12), https://doi.org/10.1088/1126-6708/2004/12/067

Recently Hertog, Horowitz, and Maeda (HHM) [14] have proposed that cosmic censorship can be violated in the AdS/CFT context. They argue that for certain initial data there is insufficient energy available to make a black hole whose horizon is big eno... Read More about Comments on cosmic censorship in AdS/CFT.

The black hole singularity in AdS/CFT (2004)
Journal Article
Fidkowski, L., Hubeny, V. E., Kleban, M., & Shenker, S. (2004). The black hole singularity in AdS/CFT. Journal of High Energy Physics, 2004(02), https://doi.org/10.1088/1126-6708/2004/02/014

We explore physics behind the horizon in eternal AdS Schwarzschild black holes. In dimension d > 3 , where the curvature grows large near the singularity, we find distinct but subtle signals of this singularity in the boundary CFT correlators. Buildi... Causal structures of pp-waves (2002)
Journal Article
Hubeny, V. E., & Rangamani, M. (2002). Causal structures of pp-waves. Journal of High Energy Physics, 2002(12), https://doi.org/10.1088/1126-6708/2002/12/043

We discuss the causal structure of pp-wave spacetimes using the ideal point construction outlined by Geroch, Kronheimer, and Penrose. This generalizes the recent work of Marolf and Ross, who considered similar issues for plane wave spacetimes. We add... Read More about Causal structures of pp-waves.

No horizons in pp-waves (2002)
Journal Article
Hubeny, V. E., & Rangamani, M. (2002). No horizons in pp-waves. Journal of High Energy Physics, 2002(11), https://doi.org/10.1088/1126-6708/2002/11/021

We argue that pp-wave backgrounds can not admit event horizons. We also comment on pp-wave generalizations which would admit horizons and show that there exists a black string solution which asymptotes to a five dimensional plane wave background.
